Enjoy this private tour that will make you discover one of the richest collections of Renaissance artworks housed in the outstanding setting of the Borghese Villa and gardens.
Built in the early 17th century by the cardinal Scipione Borghese, nephew of Pope Paul V, the Villa hosts the wide Borghese collection of paintings, sculptures and antiques artworks by masters such as Canova, Raphael, Titian and Rubens. The Cardinal was the first patron of Bernini and great collector of Caravaggio works, so both artists are widely represented in the museum collection.
The beauty of the Borghese Gallery combines with the harmony of the fountains and monuments of the surrounding gardens, that make the Villa a quite escape from the noise of the city. After visiting the museum your guide will lead you through the gardens of the Villa of Pleasures, as it was called by the cardinal Borghese itself, while you will descend toward the Pincio terrace overlooking Piazza del Popolo with a breathtaking view of the city.
